Christmas is coming! They say that the Philippines has the longest Christmas holiday season in the world! and yes, definitely yes! It starts when we hit September 1st and ended on 1st week of January wherein we celebrates the three kings. Since it’s 25 days before Christmas and what is Christmas without Jesus Christ, Gift giving, Santa Claus and food!
Speaking of food, We (Filipinos) have special dishes just for Christmas season (but of course you can eat it anytime you want it just that it is more popular and in demand during this time of the year). Two of the popular dishes in the Philippines during Christmas season are the Puto Bumbong and Bibingka.
Last May we decided to take a road trip (If you have time, you can read about out road trip on the link :P) from Manila to Antipolo to Laguna to Manila. During this trip, we found a restaurant in Pagsanjan, Laguna, the Aling Taleng’s Halo Halo. It was my sister who pointed it out since her bosses like to eat here when in Pagsanjan, So we tried. And baby! we never regretted making a stop over and dine for lunch.
Service : ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ (5 out of 10)
Food : ★★★★★★★★★☆ (9 out of 10)
It’s a little bit sad that they lack in service. We waited for almost 45 minutes I think. Why didn’t we leave? We already ordered our food and my mom won’t allow it. We follow up a few times and waited of course. We made jokes about the food; the rice and vegetables being harvest first and the like.
Food were good if not great actually. We forgot to take pictures since we’re really starving that time. When we finished our food, we ordered puto bumbong. At first I didn’t know that it has the best puto bumbong I’ve ever tasted, but as soon as I take a bite, I wished I had more! We ordered another batch since I didn’t order one because I’m not fond of it. See, I’m not really into puto bumbong but this one’s a little bit different actually.
I can’t explain the taste, it may be because of the latik they put or because of the malagkit itself. But it’s really delicious! Must try!
The puto bumbong was the main reason why they got 9 points out of 10. I forgot the taste of their food but not this one.
The halo halo on the other hand, has nothing new in it. In fact, I’d tasted halo halo that is more delicious than this one. There’s a place here in Tondo that sells delicious halo halo and Aling Taleng’s halo halo didn’t reach the standards that sets by Ugbo ( the famous place in Tondo that sells halo halo).
But nonetheless, I will go back here in Aling Taleng’s. I can’t wait to visit and eat their puto bumbong once again.
P.S. Sorry for the pics, we were excited to eat that I just take few pics then eat. lols. Did you dine here? Share your thoughts. Comments are love 😉
